JATS‑XML (OAI)The publication is devoted to issues related to the development of promising directions for changes in the public policy for the development of the banking sector in the Russian Federation under the influence of international sanctions in order to ensure long-term sustainable development. It is shown that in the conditions of exacerbation of military-political fluctuations, international sanctions act as an instrument of aggressive economic warfare. Despite the exceptional duality of the nature of international sanctions, as well as their unlawfulness from the standpoint of generally recognized universal legal norms, the sanctions pressure on the Russian economy, including the banking system, most likely will not be weakened. Sanctions have a negative impact on the development and stability of the banking sector. Through instruments of direct and indirect influence, unfriendly states are trying to destabilize the economy of the Russian Federation.
The positive role of the Bank of Russia in ensuring the stability of the country's banking sector under the sanctions of 2014 and subsequent years is substantiated. The prospects for the development of banking regulation in the context of persisting external instability have been clarified. Directions for the transformation of banking regulation according to the scenarios of socio-economic development in Russia are proposed.
