The article considers the process approach in the study of the issue of traffic safety in railway transport. The purpose of this work is to develop recommendations for ensuring the safety of railway transportation based on the analysis of technical and technological, organizational and managerial aspects and the human factor. Methods of comparative analysis, mathematical statistics, expert evaluation and interpretation of the results obtained were used. The object of the study is a system of measures to ensure safe transportation by rail. In accordance with the recommendations of the ISO 9000 – 2015 international standards, a generalized process model for ensuring transportation safety is proposed, the blocks of which include management processes, resource support processes, production processes and control processes. Based on the expert assessment, the degree of influence of the system factors of each of the blocks on the safety of train traffic is determined. It is noted that the degree of influence of system factors in the control unit on the state of transportation safety is the greatest. Recommendations are given to improve the reliability of the functioning of technical means.
