DIVERSIFICATION OF RUSSIAN GAS SUPPLIES IN COOPERATION WITH TURKEY IN THE CURRENT MACROECONOMIC AND GEOPOLITICAL CONTEXT

JATS‑XML (OAI)In the course of recent years, Russia has clearly faced the implementation of the challenges and threats defined in the «Economic Security Strategy of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030». In particular, the use of sanctions measures and discriminatory restrictions on the export of Russian natural gas have increased the volatility of the European and world gas markets, changing the structure of energy demand and consumption. In current geopolitical conditions, Russian gas industry has to deal with the task of counteracting challenges and threats to economic security and protecting national interests.
In order to form proposals on diversification of Russian gas export, relying on existing geographical, political and infrastructural capabilities and limitations, the article considers prerequisites for changing the structure of export supplies.
The paper presents the results of the SWOT analysis of various initiatives taking into account the influence of economic, legal, geopolitical and other types that can be embodied within the Russian-Turkey’s cooperation is aimed at increasing the volume and economic efficiency of natural gas exports, including through the formation of alternative European gas hubs and geographical diversification of supplies.
The results of the conducted analysis show the expediency of implementing initiatives related to the implementation of gas to EU consumers in transit through Turkey, increasing supplies to the Turkish domestic market and further development of the issue of establishing a gas hub on the territory of the country.
