The digital transformation of the economy refers to complex and lengthy processes that change existing approaches to managing business processes of capital construction facilities. The purpose of this article is to study the impact of economic transformation processes on the management of design processes in construction. The article presents the results of a comparative analysis of countries according to the digitalization index, highlights the trends of digitalization in the construction industry, and analyzes existing approaches to the management of digital transformation in construction. The authors present the results of an analysis of literature sources, which made it possible to reveal the ongoing changes in the field of responsibility and the need for new knowledge for specialists involved in each stage of the design process of capital construction facilities. Attention is paid to the special role of rationing in the design process. The practical experience of using information modeling technologies in the field of design is summarized. The advantages of using digital technologies at various stages of the life cycle of capital construction facilities are identified and structured. It is shown that in modern conditions, the transition from prescriptive to parametric normalization is relevant, while not only the execution time of the process to achieve results, but also the time for the development and improvement of the digitalization process should be subject to normalization.
