Ecological and economic aspects of water use resources in the Russian Federation

The study deals with the main unresolved issues of water use in Russia – they relate to the processes of water supply and sanitation both in the country as a whole and in some important cities of Russia. The authors consider a significant amount of statistical material in the areas of water supply and sanitation and identified a set of problems in this subject area. The study identified priority areas for further development of water use in Russia and identified its features. It should also be noted that the trends of further development show the need to stimulate the industrial sector to reduce all indicators of water use (water consumption, wastewater discharge, increase the percentage of purification, etc.), setting effective water use goals at the state, regional and local levels, forming relevant regulatory documents and strategies.
