DIGITAL RUBLE: EXPECTATIONS AND PROSPECTS

The relevance of the research topic is due to the current challenges for the Russian economy due to the application of sanctions by unfriendly countries. The need for the rapid application of new mechanisms for conducting cross-border and domestic Russian payments, coupled with the processes of import substitution of IT architecture and technologies, as well as strengthening control over the expenditure of budget funds, money laundering and withdrawal of capital, predetermine the acceleration of the implementation by the state regulator of a new form of Russian national currency - the digital ruble (DR). The purpose of this study is to study the main provisions and determine the main prerequisites for the implementation of digital development, analysis of the chronology of implementation, key features and technologies of the proposed digital development model. The main research methods were: study of specialized literature and publications on the Internet on the chosen topic, as well as comparative analysis. As a result of the study, key prospects for implementing the DR model and technologies were identified with an analysis of emerging opportunities and concerns, and it was also concluded that in the current foreign policy and macroeconomic conditions, DR is intended to become one of the tools to counter sanctions pressure and a significant driver of the development of the Russian economy.
