and forming proposals for the application of various methods in Russia, based on regional, national
and institutional specifics. The authors used comparative analysis. The work proposes an approach
to the classification of «green» bonds, which includes finding their current size and status from the
point of view of markets regulatory frameworks, an analysis of external factors, including stimulators
and barriers of market development, and the description of the prospects and trends of their future
development. Particular attention is paid to an overview of the market for «green» bonds – debt
securities used to finance environmental initiatives and projects. A comprehensive analysis allows
us to make a well-founded conclusion about the future of the markets under the study in various regions
of the world, including Russia
