In the context of the increasing need for machinery and equipment resulting from the transition to self-sufficiency and the growth of domestic production, it is essential to develop new technological capabilities in order to implement advanced import substitution for machine tools and components. This is crucial for enabling russian production to reach the global technological frontier as soon as possible. The aim of this article: examine the situation in the russian machine tool industry and identify quality indicators that contribute to the competitiveness of machine tool products. To achieve this goal, we employed general scientific methods such as comparison, analysis, and synthesis, and implemented a systematic approach. The research draws on a variety of sources, including regulatory documents, academic articles, reports, and statistical data obtained from information and analysis systems.

Results and main conclusions: general approaches to quality management of import-substituting machine tools have been developed. The authors propose a structure for an integral indicator of machine tool product quality, and present in general a model for choosing the best option for the operator, as well as discuss the issues of component interchangeability and calculation of costs for maintaining the required performance indicators of parts and assemblies, which largely determine the advantage of foreign analogues over domestic machine tools.
