The article deals with the relationship between rational and irrational in modern economic discourse. The problem is raised that the classical ideas about the “economic man”, driven by the desire for wealth and prosperity and personifying the classical ideas about rationality, are outdated. They correspond neither to reality, nor to the model of rationality that is cultivated and dominates today. The thinking and living is irrationally incapable of adequate perception of the rationality that textbooks transmit. Audits are subject to either textbooks, or an update of our rationality is necessary.
